THE SEASONS
SPRING
This is peak fishing season, as the retreating ice brings smelt to the river system, followed by rainbow trout, steelhead, perch and lake trout. Prime brook trout season is May to late June.
SUMMER
The summer months are a great time of year for walleye fishing and blueberry picking. In mid to late August, expect to see salmon starting to run in the Nipigon River. The classic combination of clear waters, sun-warmed ancient rock, sparkling sunshine, lake breezes and endless starry nights is irresistible too. Anticipate great brook trout fishing in the Nipigon River system in late summer (season ends Labour Day) with gorgeous spawning colours and groupings.
FALL
Anticipate great brook trout fishing in the Nipigon River system in the fall, with gorgeous spawning colours and groupings. Fall also sees the lake trout run in late September, the rainbow run in October and into November, and the whitefish spawn at the end of October. And of course, brilliant fall colours are showstoppers too.
